Mouna Simmonds

Mouna Simmonds has 25 years combined experience in international trade, trade finance and ship operations at ship owners, financial institutions and trading companies She has been a regular lecturer for METL since 2007/8.
She started her career in the shipping business in 1991 and worked within the various industries related to trading, banking/trade finance and shipping, namely metal/steel commodity trading companies, major international banks and also for a major Ship Owner for 9 years as a Tanker Operator before joining ED&F Man as a Trade Operator for sugar and rice in bulk.
Mouna has in-depth understanding of both the commercial and logistical aspects of ship and cargo operations, as well as the mechanism of trade finance including Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Documentary Collections. Her fluency in four international languages is a great asset for working in the shipping business. In late 2016, she achieved a high percentage pass for Level 4 Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) which is a certification jointly awarded by the London Institute of Banking and Finance and BAFT and is endorsed by the (ICC) Internantional Chamber of Commerce.  
She was the Chairwoman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ London branch from 2011 to 2012.
