Pat Tye

Pat Tye has worked in the shipping industry for over 40 years. He has been with Gibson Shipbrokers for the past 19 years in the Consultancy & Research Department and is now the Head Research Analyst.  

Prior to this, Pat worked for 22 years with Lloyds Register of Shipping and served on several industry groups including the IMO steering group on tanker casualties and NATO’s Defence Shipping Authority. Pat also worked for several years in the Shipping Editors department of Lloyd’s of London Press, the publishers of Lloyd’s List and the Shipping Index in Lime Street. He has vast experience in fleet analysis and the impact of impending regulations. 

Pat frequently lectures on various subjects relating to the shipping industry, including annually for METL. 

For the past five years Pat has also been the Secretary of the International Maritime Statistics Forum (IMSF), an informal coalition of statisticians in international maritime-related institutions. Its objective is “to promote harmonisation and improvement in quality and scope of statistics within the international maritime industries.”
